SSS has finally arrived on Bardowie shores, and you all know how much you missed it! With four teams and a very Glasgow populated Dream Team ready to take part, the weekend began somewhere that the West Enders rarely venture to… The City Centre. The long prohibited “AIDS of the art world” made a spectacular appearance in Bar Home, before the SSSailors made their way to Light and improved their inter-uni relations in a variety of different ways…

Bright and early on the Saturday morning (for some) our teams headed out to Bardowie for bacon rolls, tea and some sailing. To their absolute shock they were on the water launching by 10am in some very good wind, with some gusts to make it more interesting. We had some capsizes, and quite a few one man boats, but most importantly there was a lot of team racing going on from all of our teams.

You wouldn’t have been able to tell who was first and who was fourth team on shore, as beige were just as excited about their 1 win out of 8 as yellow were about their 75% winning streak. Getting through 81 races, everyone went home for a nap before the naughties/Noughties/knotting social, where we had people dressing up as 00’s movie characters from LOTR, Harry Potter, mean girls and avatar.

Getting together for dinner and donning their costumes, the fully clad teams set off for Garage to the horror of our Viper loving lot. However, with loud music, crowds and the regular ripping of outfits, our teams had a wonderful time and were appropriately tired and ready for the second day of SUSA!

Two days of good wind and sunshine shocked the sailors when they turned up on the Sunday morning. They only had a few races left in the round robins before they progressed into leagues. With fewer human injuries and a lot more boat injuries, much of the day was taken up by some two boat team racing, which caused a lot of debate about which combinations win - Just Don’t Come Last, Ok?! With the sun going down rapidly they managed to leave tables looking very stable, ready to take up again for SSS2.
